Our homeschool co-op asked Joel's mom if she would come and do a project with all the kids and she chose to show them how to make "Goop". Teya brought hers home and they haven't stopped playing with it. It's pretty cool stuff, as long as it doesn't get all over their clothes and in the carpet. There is a neat chemical reaction as you make it.....so I thought I'd pass along the recipe.
Goop
1 cup cold water
1 cup Elmer's glue (no substitutions)
1 Tablespoon Borax
1/2 cup HOT water
Get a canning jar or a used jelly jar or something with a lid (this has to be something that you will be willing throw away when you are done). Put 1 cup cold water and 1 cup of Elmer's glue into the jar. Cover. Have the kids shake the daylights out of the jar. In a different container, dissolve 1 tablespoon of Borax into 1/2 cup of HOT water. Stir. Once it is dissolved, pour the Borax mixture into the glue mixture. Cover. Once again, have your kids shake it like a polaroid. (This is where the cool chemical reaction takes place). The end result will be this goopy, gooey, weird stuff that is fun to mess with and touch.

A quick word of caution.....don't let your 2 year old get into this stuff when you aren't looking. She just might dump it all over the couch and then you will spend the next 40 minutes cleaning it up. Just so you know.
My kids are LOVING theirs too!! I love that it doesn't get all over like playdough and moonsand. Grandma Norma is my hero!!
